Introducing the solar powered LightCap™, the water bottle with a light in the lid. The LightCap is the brightest idea you’ve ever seen. The LightCap is not only an unbreakable one-liter water bottle, it’s also the coolest solar powered LED light you’ve ever used The cap has a built-in waterproof solar panel, battery pack and powerful, long-lasting LED light. Fill it with your favorite drink and never worry about finding it in the dark again. The water-bottle and cap combo weighs only 11 oz. The LightCap stands 8 ¼" tall and 3 ¾" wide and has a 32 oz capacity. With just a four-hour charge of sunshine the LightCap will stay bright for hours while the rechargeable Ni-Cad batteries will last for at least 300 cycles. Set it in the sun or hang it from a railing during the day and you’ll have light all night long! The solar power unit is totally sealed; in fact, it is molded in from the top (outside) of the cap so there’s no possible contact with the contents of the bottle. |

There’s also a handy waterproof switch on the cap that lets you change from the white LED (bright), to red (preserves your night vision), or turn it off completely. You can leave the red light on all night (minimal energy draw) so you can easily find the bottle; then switch it to white if you need a light |

Solar technology has come a long way in the last five years. With the addition of low voltage LED lights, it is now possible to combine small solar charging circuits and bright lights to provide small, light, safe, long-lasting, environmentally-friendly lighting products. Your LightCap™ water bottle is designed to be totally maintenance free. The solar panel, LED and rechargeable battery pack are fully sealed outside the cap, making them totally safe and waterproof. There is no possible contact with the contents of the bottle. The key to good performance is to get as much direct sunshine as possible when charging your LightCap. Charging performance decreases dramatically in dull, gray or shady environments; your LightCap will still charge, just not as fast. Of course you can also charge it a bit at night by just setting it in a room with the lights on. As a rough guide, two hours of direct sun charging will yield one hour of light (the red LED will last 30% longer). Because of the large storage capacity of our internal battery pack, it will take twenty-four hours of direct sun to fully charge the LightCap (but this will yield twelve hours of useful light). Generally, a day of charging in partially sunny conditions will charge the LightCap more than enough for an evening of use. Keep the batteries fully charged whenever possible. When storing your LightCap, keep the switch in the OFF position so that the charging circuit doesn’t continuously cycle (shortening the battery life). There is a Light Sensor integrated into the solar panel; this insures that the LightCap will turn itself off during the daylight if you accidentally leave the switch turned on. So if you want to show someone how cool your LightCap is during the day and it won’t turn on, just cover up the small light sensor on the top. In some environments, the rechargeable batteries may lose contact with their connectors at either end. If you find that they are not charging correctly, simply remove the solar panel to expose the batteries, clean/dry off the battery ends, and replace them. They are rated for a minimum of 300 cycles. When replacing the solar panel, don’t lose the small black 0-rings on the connecting posts and be sure the large rubber sealing ring is properly seated on the cap. The active solar panel is encased in a very tough poly-carbonate resin. Try to keep it protected but don’t worry if the surface gets slightly scratched – this won’t affect the performance unless the scratching is severe. Keeping it clean will also help insure fast charging. Don’t let your pets or children chew on the cap. This isn’t safe for them or the LightCap. While the voltages used are very small, even a big dog would have a hard time digesting a plastic bottle cap and the internal electronics. While the LightCap bottle is dishwasher safe, the cap and strap are NOT....remove the cap and strap first. If you want to wash your bottle in a dishwasher, remove the cap and strap first. When you want to preserve your night vision, just use the red LED. This prevents your pupils from fully dilating and will restore your night vision much faster than if you turn on the white LED. The red LED also uses less power, so the charging system will last longer. Finally, your LightCap is water-resistant, NOT waterproof. This means that you can get it wet, but if you soak it for long periods, it might fail. If the cap falls in the water, dry it off, When cleaning the cap, don’t soak it for long periods. With minimal care, it will last for many years. Your LightCap is guaranteed against failure due to manufacturers defects for ONE EARTH YEAR. If you feel that your LightCap has died prematurely (not by your carelessness, please) just send it back to us and we’ll send you a free replacement. You don’t even have to send the sales receipt: we believe you (and who saves those things anyway). |
